Officers Killed/Injured
Being a police officer is probably one of the most unique professions a person can have. It is a combination of many things. Frustration and boredom when things are slow, but sometimes scary and even terrifying when things go wrong and it is your responsibility to restore order. Although Lebanon City has typically been a fairly quiet community, it still has it's share of problems. Included in these problems are calls, that include an element of danger. It is not uncommon for a police officer to be injured in the line of duty and there are many dangers inherent to police work. Fortunately our city has not suffered an officer fatality in a long time. We credit this to the improvement in training, tactics and learning from the past mistakes of other police officers who have paid the ultimate price.
Below are three cases profiled that involve Lebanon City Officers. Two were killed in the line of duty and the third cheated death by a small margin. Please take a few minutes and visit these places in history. Please remember that these do not represent numerous cases every year in which our officers (and all police officers for that matter) are assaulted, struck, bitten, bruised or otherwise injured in the line of duty while serving the community.
